AGRIBUSINESS FARM PLAN (LITCHI ORCHARD)

INTRODUCTION

             Litchi(litchi chinensis, family-sapindaceae) can be cultivated scientifically in kapilvastu district. Soil and climate condition i.e. sandy loam with ph 5.5 and summer temperature 26 to 32◦c and winter temperature 6 to 14◦c is available in kapilvastu. The demand of litchi is high and have good market. Litchi orchard is long term business plan so intercropping is done to earn money yearwise. Land is hired for its cultivation and market is targeted in town area. The amount of fertilizer and manure required is bought sufficiently and good quality high yielding variety i.e. MAZZAFARPUR variety is cultivated.

COMPANY SUMMARY

         Company will run in 1 hectre area in which square planting method is done. Plants are planted at the spacing of 10*10 m2. About 100 litchi plant will be cultivated in 1 ha area. Initially 100 pits of 1m3 dimension is dugged and each pit is fill with 20kg FYM, 2KG BONE MEAL, 400GM POTASH and 40-100gm insecticide. Our business is mainly focused on selling of litchi fruit but it takes too long time about 6 years for flowering. So, our intension is also selling of intercrops like vegetables, legumes. The site will be faciliated with irrigation, transportation and market facilities. The intercultural activities such as weeding, training, pruning, manuring etc is done in time to time and for this seasonal labour is hired. For long distance transportation local vehicle will be used. There will be cultivation of wind breaks plant i.e. sissoo around the orchard and fencing of orchard.

PRODUCTS

          Our business focuses on selling of litchi fruits mainly alongside with intercrops products. In summer, cultivation of guard vegetable and in rainy season, cultivation of legumes and in winter cultivation of cauliflower and brocouli is done as intercrop. These crops help in earning money as well as weeding material as well as provide nutrients in soil for litchi orchard. The main crops litchi will bring to BUTWAL, NARAYANGHAT market as the price is high and intercrop products will be sell in local market area.

MARKET ANALYSIS

                      Litchi is most sweetest fruit and demand is very high in industries and local consumption so, there will be no more difficulty in marketing. Our business plan is to sell litchi in town area especially butwal as price is higher. Litchi is harvested in month of baisakh and jestha so there will be no more problems of transportation so they can be bring in Kathmandu for sell.

STRATEGY AND IMPLEMENTATION

Litchi orchard is long term business plan so appropriate attention is done in orcharding. MAZZAFARPUR variety which is good in both quality and quantity is cultivated in 1 ha area. Time to time check up of plants will be done by local agriculturist and their suggestion will be top priority. The amount of urea, DAP, bone meal, insecticides etc will be bring in that time when its cost is low. There will be no problem of FYM in kapilvastu district and it can be bought in low cost. Equal priority for intercrops, as they will earn money time to time which will aid profit in our business. Insecticides and pesticides will often spray in time. As if business run well then there will made provision of selling of young plants and post harvest products of litchi fruits such as juice, jam etc

SALE FORECAST

       The selling price of litchi is about average Rs. 80 per kg and each matured plant(about age of 6 years) can produced 100-150 kg and Rs.8,000 obtained from one tree and Rs.8,00,000 is obtained from all tree. There is intercrop like guard,legumes and cauliflower and brocauli which will earn about minimum 1 lakhs per year under proper examination.

MANAGEMENT SUMMARY

In initial stage, family member is sufficient for orchard management. Seasonal labour is required for early pit digging and later on for manuring, training and pruning. Seasonal labour is also required for harvesting of intercrops of 1 ha area. The financial managerial activities can be done by family member in initial stage and after orchard start production there will be provision of accountant.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY (EIGHT YEARS)

Litchi required at least 6 years for fruiting. Financial summary of 8 years means litchi will be harvested 2 times.  The financial summary of 8 years is prepared to calculate appropriate profit and loss.
