VISIT TO AGRICULTURE COOPERATIVES OF KAPILVASTU

A visit has been made to Mayur krishi tatha pashu bikash sahakari sanstha limited on date 25^th kartik 2075. It was established on 2066 B.S. It is located in the heart of kapilvastu district i.e. banganga municipality. It was established with the motto of developing self employment through agriculture and vet sectors. It provides both agriculture and vet services and prepare plan for its sustainability in banganga municipality.

Planning process for activities

A general meeting is arranged for any sorts of activities among co operatives member. The results and conclusion will pass out plan for activities. This cooperative mainly focuses on vet sectors rather than agriculture sectors. It helps farmer on buying and selling of live stocks.  For animal security, it provides animal insurance to live stocks. For new, landless and energetic farmer it provides debt in affordable interest and without any pledge. In agriculture, it provides chemical fertilizer such as DAP, UREA AND POTASH with very low margin and also provide chemical herbicide and insecticide in low prices.

Investment in agriculture sector

Initially it was established as nongovernmental organization by the farmer group of banganga municipality but due to Excellency in work government is funding in this organization. Now it is 75% governmental and 25% private sectors. It has now added six new sub branches with 310 shareholder members. All farmers are the shareholder of this co operative. It has now total investment of more than 1 crore in agriculture and vet sectors. It is the key for sure success of agriculture in kapilvastu district.

Pattern of return from credit to farmers

It provides credit on time after completion of forms that should be filled by farmers. It provides loan without any pledge. It has its own system in taking loan. If farmer wants to take loan of Rs.25, 000 then he need extra one member of his society to signature in loan paper and for Rs.50, 000 farmer needs extra two member of society and for Rs. 1 lakh he needs extra 4 member. Farmer can pay his debt up to 2 years.

Role/services in agriculture

This cooperative has played an important role in agriculture  and vet sectors. For easily access to farmer it has established 6 new sub branches. Farmer of neighbouring municipality also enjoying the services provided by this organization. It provides very convenient service and service of saving to the farmers. This cooperative provide vetenery services to livestock of farmers such as time to time check up of live stocks and suggest medicine for any complication and also provide available medicine either free of cost or with low margins. It also provide agriculturist for checkup of vegetables, fruits and mainly soil test. This cooperative doesn’t take any service fee.

                                                                  Cooperative provide saving facilities to farmers. Every months farmer have to pay minimum Rs.100 for their saving and cooperatives provide interest of about 11-12% per annum. This cooperatives help farmer for maximum and qualitative production of milk, vegetable, fruits, egg and meat but don’t help in marketing of these products, farmer itself have to find out appropriate buyer for their products. Cooperative has provision of input stocks. There is always availability of necessary agricultural inputs such as UREA, DAP, POTASH, ANIMAL FEEDS, POULTRY FEEDS, GRASS SEEDS and some important medicine for frequent uses of farmers. In case, if farmers did not get in that day then he/she will get in next successive day. This cooperative also provides extension without any service fee. This cooperative provides training on animal husbandry, mushroom farming, animal feeding and nutrition, time to time soil check up and also training on saving of money.
